Through Walk For Winnie, we will be able to provide funding for the care and treatment of the sickest of babies. Every day, skilled physicians and nurses at the Alexander Center for Neonatology provide the highest level of lifesaving care for critically ill newborns, with one ultimate goal in mind: to help these babies thrive, to help them beat the odds. Please join us in raising funds to support the tiny miracles born in the NICU every single day!

Join me and help support Winnie Palmer Hospital For Women & Babies!

Every year we participate in this amazing walk to help raise awareness that not everyone has a magical beginning. Their are families and babies fighting today for their own success stories! We are blessed everyday with our wicked smart loving full of energy little boy who loves life!! We also work very hard for every success and conquer every challenge with the simple goal of catching up! We have been blessed for the the opportunity to experience challenges and successes as not everyone is blessed with that. Ashton today is already love his new school, reads books everyday ( even “ reads” them back to us, can sing many songs , loves chasing lizards and catching frogs ( even brought one to his room ) We would love to have you walk with us this year to see just how many miracles get to come out and celebrate!! And to help give hope to so many families fighting to be released from the hospital to come home! If you are able to donate money as so many of you do every year please know YOU are making a difference!! Every dollar counts!!

This is our Story:

After five unsuccessful pregnancies, Amy Allen was hoping that her sixth journey towards parenthood would be smoother than those in her past. Finally, Amy and her husband found out that she was pregnant with twin boys due at the end of February 2014.

With the excitement building upon the arrival of their baby boys, things took an unexpected turn. At 22 weeks pregnant, Amy was admitted to Orlando Health Winnie Palmer Hospital for Women & Babies where she would give birth to her sons at the end of October 2013, nearly four months before their due date. Brandon Allen was born first, allowing his parents a few moments to hold him, love him, and then say their goodbyes. Several days later, Ashton Allen arrived at 23 weeks and 1 day into Amy’s pregnancy.

At 22 weeks pregnant, Amy was admitted to Orlando Health Winnie Palmer Hospital for Women & Babies where she would give birth to her sons at the end of October 2013, nearly four months before their due date.

With just a 17 percent chance of survival, Ashton spent 126 days in the NICU at Orlando Health Winnie Palmer fighting for his life. He spent most of his first holidays and milestones in the NICU, but a week after his original due date in February, Ashton was finally able to go home at a weight of 6 pounds. Today, at four and a half years old, Ashton has no clinical issues. He loves the pool, playing, and he even outruns his mom Amy most of the time. Ashton is 100 times stronger because of his experiences in the NICU. He loves the people in his life, especially his team from Orlando Health Winnie Palmer. They have a special place in his heart and will always be considered a part of the Allen family.

“The healthcare team took such good care of him,” said Amy Allen, as she expressed her love for the doctors and nurses she encountered throughout her time at the NICU. “We call them Ashton’s Angels. They were as big a part of this journey as anyone, and we really owe our family to their care and compassion.”
