Team Calvin

Calvin Nicholas Veronick was born on February 14, 2016, weighing 2 lbs 3.5 oz, and 14 inches long. He was born at 28 weeks due to complications with Mom, including preterm labor. Despite Calvin's early arrival, we knew he was a fighter from day one as he came into the world breathing on his own and energetic. Under the expert care of the many doctors, nurses, and other staff at Winnie Palmer Hospital in Orlando, FL, Calvin was able to grow even stronger and today is a healthy and happy 2 year old.

Calvin spent 89 days in the NICU at Winnie and had overcome several big obstacles along the way. Our little fighter went through two surgeries during his NICU stay; one to close his Patent Ductus Arteriosus (PDA) in the heart, and the other to repair Pyloric Stenosis in the stomach. Other obstacles Calvin needed to overcome included consistently breathing and eating on his own, regulating his own temperature, and weighing at least 4 lbs. Our NICU grad came home on May 13, 2016 weighing 4 lbs and thriving! Today Calvin is a smart, goofy, and healthy 2 year old. He loves to play outside, with toy cars, legos, and going for walks in his bike. He never leaves the house without a smile.

Calvin will always be our fighter, our miracle, and our little Iron Man. We love you buddy!

Through Walk For Winnie, we will be able to provide funding for the care and treatment of the smallest of babies. The Alexander Center for Neonatology provides the highest level of lifesaving care for critically ill newborns, with one ultimate goal in mind: to help these babies thrive, to help them beat the odds. Please join us in raising funds to support the tiny miracles born in the NICU every single day.
